| From: WV Society of Ghost Hunters Date: 12/07/04 18:38:23 To: Shelby, Larry Subject: Fr Susan Crites Panhandle Society for Paranormal Research and Investigation Didn't know about your organization or this website. I scanned it very quickly. I am concerned about copyright violations...using my material without my written permission. I may or may not object. At minimum, I require those who use my material to make the source attributions. I believe you learned at the Ghost Hunter training that we do not disclose the location of private homes. Using Cannon Avenue is too close to disclosing an address. I have copywritten a number of permutations of WV Society of Ghost Hunters. I'll check to see how close your organization name is to what I have already protected. That's an issue for another day. My immediate reaction is that I don't plan to have you use W.V.S.G.H. activities as grist for your organization. If you want to ghost hunt that's great. If you want to report on ghost hunts, that's great, too. But, find your own locations, use your own materials, your own people. Immediately, I want you to be sure that everything you have on your site by and about the WV Society of Ghost Hunters off your website...everything...immediately. You get one chance with me. Any further use of my material without my written permission and I will not hesitate to sue you. Susan Crites |

| Jaime: First of all the copyright violation was committed when the newspaper article was cut and pasted from the Parthenon's website, not the addresses. Maybe I didn't make this clear so once again, everything that was posted is public record and not copyrighted, we are well aware of that and I did not say anything to the contrary. Also I am fairly sure that information came straight from the WV Secretary of States website that is pretty much common sense. I think in fact it was pretty clear and you are now just looking to pick a fight. Now for your little lawsuit jab, you work at a law firm so I would hope that you are a little more knowledgeable than that. If anyone in your group feels the urge to file a frivolous lawsuit, then go right ahead. You are well aware of the fact that nobody would have a legal leg to stand on in any sort of legal action against our group. The truth is as you are well aware there are no grounds to file a lawsuit at all. We have listened to four years of empty legal threats by your leader and let me assure your threats do not strike fear in us either. Also I want to make it perfectly clear that we will not hesitate to attempt to recover any lost revenue resulting from any frivolous lawsuit. The email you sent to us from your work email coupled with this email, we are replying to, has been interpreted as a direct legal threat and therefore both emails have been forwarded on to our attorney. I took the time to apologize for an our oversight which allowed everyone in our group to get a copy of your email addresses and this is how you and you alone have responded. I have instructed everyone on our email list to not contact a single person on that list about this unfortunate situation. As for the statement about intergalactic_barfly no that's not bold, we simply reported what has been reported to us and then stated that it was unverified third party information. Finally I would think you would be well aware of the fact that we would have no part in Susan's "paranormal farce". Please I urge you to get on with your life because there is far more to mine than these petty threats and meaningless banter. -- Respectfully: W.V.G.H www.westvirginiaghosthunters.com |
